Peselancar Remaja Luka Parah Diserang Hiu

Sydney - Seorang peselancar remaja yang sedang berlatih di pantai utara Sydney diserang oleh ikan Hiu. Akibatnya, korban menderita luka yang cukup parah.

"Dia menderita luka parah di kakinya, terutama di paha kiri atas," ujar juru bicara Pelayanan Ambulance New South Wales Brett Garvey seperti dilansir, AFP, Minggu (1/3/2009).

Saat itu, peselancar (15) tersebut sedang asyik bermain bersama ayahnya di Avalon, salah satu kota pantai utara, saat penyerangan berlangsung. Korban langsung dibawa ke RS terdekat.

Brett mengatakan, terjadi pendarahan hebat pada anak itu. Beruntung kondisinya tetap stabil. Brett belum mengetahui hiu jenis apa yang menyerang remaja tersebut.

Penyerangan ini sudah terjadi untuk kesekian kali di pantai utara Sydney. 11 Februari lalu di lokasi yang sama, seorang penyelam dari angkatan laut juga telah diserang oleh hiu. Penyelam tersebut mengalami luka yang sangat parah sehingga tim dokter sampai harus mengamputasi lengan dan kakinya.

Sepertinya Australia menjadi lokasi yang sangat nyaman untuk tempat berkumpulnya hiu. AFP melansir, selama dua abad, sebanyak 194 orang telah tewas dalam serangan hiu di Australia.
